We’re a happy bunch at Sassy HQ, so when a celeb known for pouting comes into town we tend not to be so hot on their heels… unless the person is Mrs. Victoria Beckham! Our team in Singapore caught up with the former Spice Girl and celebrated designer to talk about her collaboration with On Pedder for her pre-fall 2014 collection, all in a perfect shade of pink… just how we like it. We talked to her about crop tops, nerves of steel and her best beauty tips and tricks! And don’t forget to check out the cute video below with collection highlights too.
Can you fill us in on the new Victoria Beckham x On Pedder collection? We love the shades of pink!
I wanted to offer women in this region something different – just for On Pedder. I just really like the colour, it looks really great with the existing collections and the ready to wear collections, you can use it season on season and it works in day and evening. It’s just a really good, feminine, romantic colour.
What first sprung to mind when you were packing for Singapore?
The heat! I also like to have lots of options so I made sure to pack lots of dresses and accessories too.
Do you have plans to expand the Victoria Beckham brand through Asia?
If the demand is here, and if the Asian ladies like what I do and they seem to, then yes. The women here really have a natural sense of style, a flair for fashion, they’re very chic. They really seem to appreciate luxury and quality, which is something that I really pride myself on. David loves it here and it’s only my third time here but I really hope to come back. Everyone I have met has been very kind and welcoming.
How do you juggle work, family and the social side of things?
It’s all about focus – I have great people around me who work on my schedule – I’m not doing this all on my own, I do have quite a small team, but they all work very hard. The kids and David are always my first priority, so I always make sure that I take the kids to school, that I do the school events and that my working life fits in with my children and their needs.
Any plans on a kiddies collection?
There’s probably no way I would get the kids to model for me. Never say never but it’s not on the cards right now – there are just not enough hours in the day!
Top beauty tips?
Get as much sleep as you can, drink as much water as you can, try to work out but I am a very positive person and I think that a positive mind keeps you uplifted at all times.
Any fashion trends you would never wear?
A crop top.
Do you still get nervous showcasing collections?
Definitely sending models out on the catwalk is more nerve racking than performing. I had a lot of fun with the spice girls and really appreciated all our fans, but for me this is what I really love, it’s what I really know about and it’s my passion. I love women and want to empower them so this makes me more nervous because its what I really care about.
What bag do you love the most?
It depends where I am going, I use the zip pouches a lot but then the Quincy bag is one that I use most days. I put in all sorts; credit cards, lipstick, iphone, iphone charger, sunglasses.
