Home Kong
We all know that people in Hong Kong are hardworking, but did you know that we’re actually working the longest hours of any major city in the world? It’s true – and it’s a truly excellent excuse to make the most of the free time you’ve got.
That’s why intrepid travel brand Pacsafe is introducing Adventure Month. Pacsafe wants to inspire everyone in HK to #DitchTheDesk and rediscover the everyday adventures that make Hong Kong amazing… and there are some pretty cool prizes to win too!
Ready to kick-start the adventures? Here are five fabulous Adventure Month destinations recommended by Pacsafe. Check them out for yourself, or make your own adventure – just be sure to share and tag pics for the chance to win fantastic Pacsafe prizes all month.
Happy adventures!
Go late-night meal hopping at Tai On Building
See a new side of Hong Kong Island (and satisfy your late-night snack cravings) at the Tai On Building in Sai Wan Ho. This district landmark offers every kind of Hong Kong street snack, from egg waffles to fish balls to cart noodles and more. The atmosphere is at its most bustling around midnight, making Tai On Building the perfect adventure for a Friday or Saturday night when you don’t need to set an alarm the next morning.
Discover your future with a visit to the fortune tellers in Yau Ma Tei
Find out what your future holds (or at the very least enjoy a little local flavour) by visiting the fortune tellers at Yau Ma Tei’s Temple Street Night Market. Walk north through the market and past the Yau Ma Tei library until you reach the Tin Hau Temple gardens. There, you’ll see a cluster of stalls where you can grab a chair and hear your fortune. There are palm readings, face readings and even fortune telling with a bird!
Feed your floral addiction at Prince Edward’s Flower Market Road
A botanical escape in the heart of the city, Hong Kong’s favourite flower market is an easy walk from the MTR and bus stops but feels like another world. Explore a veritable jungle of lush plants, fragrant herbs and beautiful blooms in every colour. If you want a souvenir of your flower market adventure but don’t exactly have acres of garden space, consider picking up one of the market’s multitude of tiny, exotic succulents.
Swim in the crystal-clear water at Tai Long Wan
It’s been called the most beautiful beach in Hong Kong, and for good reason. Tai Long Wan offers a white sand beach, crystal-clear blue water and a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. A true adventure, getting to Tai Long Wan involved a 90-minute hike from the Sai Wan Pavilion, although you could hire a speedboat to take you instead. And if you can’t bear to leave when the sun starts to set, hire a tent and sleep under the stars!
Cycle along the river in Sha Tin Park
Get your adventures in gear with a visit to one of Hong Kong’s best-known cycling routes. If you haven’t sat in the saddle in some time, not to fear – the path is flat and plenty of people on the Sha Tin to Tai Mei Tuk route are beginners, so there’s nothing wrong with taking a leisurely pace. Enjoy the Tolo Harbour coastline and refreshing breeze as you pedal along the river, then finish it all off with a barbecue by the bay at Tai Mei Tuk.
