Katya Virshilas – How Not To Be A Tedx Speaker

A lifelong dancer, choreographer and competitive performer, Katya Virshilas is not your average orator. But if you’re a fan of films like Take the Lead or shows like So You Think You Can Dance, both of which she has contributed to (among many others!), then you won’t want to miss hearing about how she has made her mark on the industry — especially in recent years, as she’s turned her attention to issues of accessibility and gender equality.

Sophia Hotung – Invisible And Visible Disabilities

Sophia Hotung is no stranger to issues of representation. Having dedicated much of her career as a writer and illustrator to raising awareness about chronic illness, women’s rights and Hong Kong culture, Hotung is a veteran in the field of advocation. You can thank her, for instance, for creating The Hong Konger art collection, which features 100 illustrations inspired by her home city. Her talk on the struggles of living with an invisible illness will be in conversation with the next inspiring speaker on our list, Jessica Chan.

Jessica Chan – Invisible And Visible Disabilities

During the global lockdowns of COVID-19, many of us took solace in doom-scrolling and delivery services. Not Jessica Chan. She learned to surf, demonstrating that her dwarfism is no inhibitor to her passion for sports. A longtime advocate of disability and gender equality, championing the connection and collaboration of women across Hong Kong and the region, Jessica is a perfect example of making the change you wish to see in the world.
