Shop Talk: Decor8

Decorating a home in Hong Kong is by no means an easy feat. Spaces are small and stylish furnishings that we can actually afford are difficult to come by! Making your home a relaxing, quiet haven is so important and returning to a pad that’s decked out in gorgeous goods makes it even better! That’s why we love Decor8’s showrooms in Wan Chai and Mong Kok and online store! They have everything you need, including sofas, chairs, tables, accessories and much more. This treasure trove of furniture goodies mixes cool industrial style pieces like this one here with wooden designs like this one for a modern, rustic vibe. Time for an interior update!

How did it start?
When the founders of Decor8 were trying to help their friends decorate their flats, they had a difficult time sourcing simple, modern designs in this busy city – so Decor8 was born! Using their experience in consumer product design, development and distribution, Decor8 evolved into a streamlined furniture hub that offers quality products for great value in a reasonable time frame. It’s what we’ve been waiting for!

Who to know?
Diana Yang is the Marketing Director at Decor8 and the main face behind the Wan Chai showroom. She’s the one to know if you’re looking for some fantastic design deals! Not only does she have a background in product development and marketing from the U.S., China and Taiwan, but she’s also got a great eye for putting pieces together. We consulted Diana when we needed to give our Sassy office a bit of a makeover and she did an awesome job helping us out. We even got a pink chair in keeping with the Sassy spirit!

Why we love it?
We love the fact that you can pick up such a mix of modern and contemporary furniture at Decor8, and we’re totally into their ‘inspired by’ pieces like these fab chairs. They offer a selection of modern furniture that’s accessible and affordable making it the perfect one stop shop for home furnishings! It’s also really easy to order what you need with their online shop, which is great for those who want a hassle free platform for shopping in the comfort of their own home. Having their furniture available online is also a great way for us to research a plan of attack prior to popping into one of their showrooms. If you’re all about test driving your future furniture though, the new Wan Chai flagship store is great for checking them out and doing a bit of physical mix and matching of different pieces.

What’s on our shopping list?
We can’t wait for the Sassy HQ office makeover, and we’re seriously coveting Decor8’s designs! We had a tough time choosing, but eventually we decided on a couple of their pieces to spruce up our workspace. For our conference table area, we went with these cool, Hans Wegner style wishbone chairs – great for all those meetings we’ve got to fit in during the week.

Every now and then we need a place to relax, so we’ve designed a new hangout area. We can’t wait to sit back and relax on this grey two-seater Henley sofa, which will go great with this super comfortable, funky swan chairs – in pink of course! And let’s not forget these very cool Dynasty Drum side tables to add a bit of style to our chill out area too. Not to mention this hang-it-all coat rack for a burst of colour…

An office is for working in after all! That’s why having a comfortable chair to sit back in while you type away is one of our essential items. We love these aluminium executive leather office chairs in black and white that manage to be stylish and practical at the same time. We’re still awaiting a couple more additions to our new office space, but stay tuned, as we’ll be posting some pics of our fabulous renovations soon (and we’re sure there will be a few more Decor8 pieces making an appearing too!).

Their brand new showroom is conveniently located in Wan Chai, just between Hennessy and Johnston Road.
