From the moment Jack Wills opened their doors in Causeway Bay almost a year ago, they had a strong following – and the British college prep brand has only gained yet more fans after turning out collection after collection of well-made, well-designed pieces for Brits, Hong Kongers, and beyond! Their Fall/Winter 2012 collection is no exception… so here are our Sassy picks of the best of the bunch!
The first things we ran to were the jackets. The coats are the perfect compliment to the chilly HK winter air that’s just starting to breeze in; the best part is that the lining can actually be taken out of this hunter green one to maximize its wearability! We also loved the floral lining of the navy quilted hooded one!
After we finished ogling the jackets, we turned our eyes to the blazers (which are around $2.5k a piece) – these classics would pair beautifully with some skinny navy or chocolate brown cords for the fall. We loved their nipped-in waists, double pocket details and the fact that the back dips lower, creating a very sleek shape for both the jacket and for you!
How cute would this fitted pheasant jumper ($1,100) be with some cuffed boyfriend jeans? It is a little reminiscent of Rachel Berry on Glee but only in the best way! There were also some adorable knits perfect for an alpine holiday – skiing anyone?! Don’t worry if plain is more your style… Jack Wills has plenty of those too, in every colour you can think of!
Given that my shopping list was already growing by leaps and bounds with each new piece presented, I was thinking about leaving whilst my wallet was still in tact…. but then they pulled out the dresses! We all know JW does a killer little strapless sundress (just add tights, chunky boots, and a hoodie under a denim jacket for added fall cuteness) but have you seen this limited edition silk pheasant number, aka the Rayton Dress? Holy Holiday Party Batman! I’m seeing some big beaded cuffs and a rosy gold peep toe pump in this frock’s future! OK, it’s a little pricey at $5k, but knowing that only 200 were made worldwide (with only a handful in HK) means the odds of you being on Joan Rivers “B**** Stole My Look” are slim!
After that I tried to turn and run before my credit card took a beating but in order to leave, I had to walk through the rest of the store! Uh oh… Basically, everything is new and awesome, and you will be hard pressed to leave without something, including a new range of Jack Wills hats (and half the attraction are the gorgeous hatboxes they come in!). There are also odds and ends for your home and/or office, loads of accessories, lingerie, pyjamas, shoes, make-up and other bits and pieces, all decorated in JW’s classy signature style and all certain to keep you lingering for hours!
Oh and shhhh… but we’ve heard there might just be a few more JW stores set to scatter themselves around HK in 2013. So hats off to Jack Wills for their fab fall collection – and here’s to many more!
