We’re always on the lookout for a bargain, and lunchtime is no exception. Whether you live or work in Wan Chai, we have you covered for those days when you want to treat yourself, but not break the bank. With plenty of cheap eats to be had, we’ve rounded up everything on offer from burgers, dumplings, gourmet sandwiches, salads and more. Sure to satisfy those cravings, here are the best places to find lunch in Wan Chai for under $100.

Bread & Beast

Serving up gourmet sarnies, Bread & Beast is a great spot to head to when hunger strikes. Sandwiches, salads and rice bowls range between $78 and $88, plus you can add a side and a drink for an extra $22. We love the Kentucky San or the Ngau Lam Wich, with a side of lennon fries, but if you’re after something a little lighter, opt for the Hainan Salad Bowl.

Bread & Beast wan chai

Chao Chao Gyoza

Found on Wan Chai’s Amoy Street, you’re likely to spot this little gyoza joint come lunchtime for the queues outside alone! Serving up an array of delicious Japanese dumplings, the lunch set is great value (priced between $65 and $88), and includes a choice of three starters, a choice of Chao Chao’s famous dumplings, a main dish (including the likes of Japanese Curry Rice, Japanese Udon and Japanese Grilled Eel Rice) and a soft drink.

Cheung Hing Kee

This little restaurant cooks up unbelievably delicious Shanghai Pan Fried Buns and is a must try if you’re looking for a cheap and delicious lunch. The little pockets of goodness are filled with piping hot soup and stuffed with mouth-watering pork, before being pan fried – causing the bottoms to become crispy and the tops to steam. We recommend trying the Signature Pork Buns ($32 for four), but truffle fans can get their hands on two Truffle Buns for $30. Just be sure to douse your buns in vinegar and hot sauce for the perfect finish! And if you’re feeling peckish, grab some noodles – the Dan Dan Noodles hit the spot and are only $52.

Com Banh Mi is inspired by the streets of Hoi An, with colourful walls and condiment-lined counters making for an authentic experience. To get the most bang for your buck opt for the combo, which is priced between $80 to $90 and includes a main dish, drink and a side (and which is available until 10pm!). Main dishes include Pho Bo (beef), Pho Ga (chicken), Lemongrass Pork Belly Bahn Mi, Hainan Chicken Cold Vermicelli and more, with sides including Fried Spring Rolls, Garlic Butter Wings, Papaya Salad and Rice Paper Rolls.

FINI’s

If you’re looking for some Italian-American comfort food come lunchtime, look no further than FINI’s. The weekday lunch set is priced at just $98 and includes a daily antipasti, any pasta dish and coffee or tea. For those looking for some heartier fare (and don’t mind spending a little over $100!), don’t miss trying one of FINI’s indulgent sandwiches, including Meatball Parm ($148), Grilled Skirt Steak ($138), Eggplant and Roasted Pepper ($108) and more.

Five Guys wan chai

Five Guys

Opened at the end of 2018, Five Guys is open daily from 11am to 10pm and guarantees to bring in the crowds all day long. This popular burger chain offers a spread of indulgent delights for those days when you need a little more than a salad. The full menu is priced under $100, with burgers ranging between $75 and $95, hotdogs between $50 and $70, and sandwiches between $45 and $60.

Sassy Tip: The large fries ($60) are generous enough to share, so we recommend splitting with a friend. It’s also worth noting that the standard hamburger ($75) here is a double, while the “Little Hamburger” ($55) is a single.

Honbo

This homegrown burger joint is one of our favourites in the city and uses local farmers, brewers and artisans to serve up what it describes to be “a really good burger”. Although open daily, it’s worth swinging by here at lunch time on weekdays to enjoy a burger, side and drink for only slightly over $100. The classic burger, chicken burger and vegan burger are all available for just $108 and come complete with a choice of sides (including fries, sweet potatoes fries and coleslaw) and a drink. Totally worth the extra $8 if you ask us!

Ichitora Ramen wan chai

When the cold weather hits, or when you’re just in need of a steamy bowl of comfort food, Ichitora Ramen is our go to. Serving some of our favourite ramen in the city, we can’t get enough of the Black Garlic Ramen ($93), that’s sure to see you right through until dinner. Though if you’re after some heat, don’t miss the Spicy Ramen ($93). Sides such as dumplings ($42) and fried chicken ($43) are also available, but the generous bowls of noodle soup should keep you satisfied if you’re wanting to keep the price tag under $100.

Kelly’s Cape Bop

This Michelin-recommended Korean restaurant goes easy on the rice in favour of extra vegetables. Offering a range of healthy Korean fare and tasty snacks, dishes here include Kimbop, Chicken Bites, Bibimbop, Kimchi Pancakes, Egg Rolls and more. The set lunch (which includes a kimbop, small chicken bites and a drink or soup) may be a little over budget at $120, but most a la carte dishes range between $60 and $80, with the duo set (featuring kimbop or chicken bites and tteokbokki) can be yours for $100.

If you’re craving a curry come lunch time, Khana Khazana is our top choice in Wan Chai. This vegetarian restaurant will sate the appetites of veggies and meat eaters with its weekday executive buffet lunch. Priced at just $98, expect to feast on everything from freshly made appetisers and dosas, to delicious curries and desserts.

La Rotisserie

La Rotisserie is a favourite of many who crave a good ol’ roast chicken. The set here is seriously good value, with a quarter chicken, side and a soup or a drink priced at $88. Sides change daily and include pasta and lentil dishes and freshly prepped veggies, but don’t miss out on the heavenly roast potatoes (which are cooked in chicken juices!). Guests can also choose to enjoy the sides or soup of the day for just $28 each and sandwiches are also on offer for between $58 and $62. Although specialising in roast chicken, a veggie set is also available for $82, which features an individual vegetarian quiche, side, soup and drink.

One of our all-time favourites in the area, Le Petit Saigon ticks all the boxes and sees off any cravings at all times of the day. Perfect for a grab and go lunch, all of the handmade banh mis here are priced at $88. You can’t go wrong with the classic Bánh Mì Thit (complete with rolled pork belly, head cheese, vietnamese cold cuts, pork floss, mayo, chicken liver pâté, pickles, spring onion, cucumber, coriander, chilli and soya sauce), but vegetarians should try out the equally satisfying Bánh Mì Chay, with tofu, mayo, pickles, spring onion, cucumber, coriander, chilli and soya sauce.

With so many salads and sandwiches to choose from, Passion is definitely a place to visit when looking for lunch in Wan Chai. The salad choices are great, with each dish packed full of flavour. If you’re craving a decent sandwich, look no further, as a range of breads and deli fillings will leave you spoiled for choice. The small or large salad box set lunches include three or four choices and are priced between $53 (small) and $73 (large). Meanwhile, the gourmet sandwich selection ranges between $52 and $65.

Shake Shack

Along with its location in ifc mall, internationally-renowned burger joint, Shake Shack has also opened up shop in Admiralty. Easily accessible from Pacific Place 3, Wan Chai workers who need a midweek pick-me-up can choose from a range of burgers (priced between $50 and $84) and hotdogs (between $33 and $39) – not forgetting the obligatory fries ($27) and shake ($42), of course.

Tallore

Tallore offers a range of healthy soups, along with sandwiches and salads packed full of fresh ingredients, taste and goodness. Wraps are priced between $53 and $63, along with freshly made salads for $63 (plus $10 for hummus, $12 for avocado and $12 for roasted chicken). You can also add a small soup for just $25 to complete your meal, enjoy a bowl of large soup and bread for $58, or opt for a warming “protein pot” of chilli con carne and wild rice for $63.

The Spice House serves up cheap and authentic Thai dishes which are full of flavour. It’s a la carte menu features all of the favourite dishes you’d expect to see, with its set weekday menu offering serious bang for your buck. Priced at $72 (including a drink!), guests can choose from four dish options, which include Green Curry with Pork on Rice, Stir Fried Chicken with Chilli & Basil on Rice, Tom Yam Soup Noodles and Khao Soi Curry with Chicken.

Three Blind Mice

Although this lunch set is slightly higher than our target, we can’t complain about spending $118 on a three-course lunch! Three Blind Mice is known for serving up hearty European-inspired plates in a casual setting, and we think its lunch set is the perfect mid-week treat. The menu changes every few weeks, but expect dishes such as Impossible meat Spaghetti Bolognese, Steak and Chips, Chicken Parmigiana and more, along with a special dessert of the week.
