NYC meets HKG
As if we’re not spoiled for choice when it comes to bars in this city, we have just heard that the Landmark Mandarin Oriental are about to add another to the mix. Following a successful pop-up back in 2016, PDT (Please Don’t Tell) has announced that it will be opening its doors in Hong Kong for good come 2018. For those that don’t know, PDT is an iconic New York cocktail bar (regularly voted amongst the world’s best), known for its distinctive interiors and creative drinks (along with its famous hot dogs!).
Staying true to its roots, and fitting right in with Hong Kong’s speakeasy scene, customers will enter PDQ through a faux phone booth at the top of the staircase in MO Bar, leading though into a space that is sure to be a playful mix of vintage and modern interiors. Founder of PDT, Jim Meehan, says that “The cocktail menu will change frequently throughout the year to take advantage of hyper-seasonal produce and limited-edition wines, beers and spirits”, along with featuring a handful of the house classics from the NYC location.
As well as the expertly made cocktails, Chef Ekkebus of the Landmark Mandarin Oriental has also worked to create free-range pork, chicken and beef hotdogs, taking inspiration from the PDT New York’s Crif Dogs hotdog stand, with the promise of more American comfort foods offerings to come. We know that the New Year normally brings with it a certain level of January blues, but with this news we say bring on 2018! Be sure to check back with us for more details to come.
