One of my favourite accessory shops in Hong Kong is Evelyn Artwear on Aberdeen Street. The cute little jewellery shop has a great combo of girly pearls mixed with edgy chains which I love, love, love. For the next few weeks though pearls and chains are making room for paper at Evelyn Artwear and they will have to be accommodating because this paper will need lots of room because it is giant and rather lovely.
From today until the 22 February artist Anna Gleeson will be showcasing her oversized earring collection which she has called “Earrings for Elephants”. The collection came about when she bought a huge wooden ear in an antique shop to hang on her wall. It looked a tiny bit bare so she decided to make paper earrings to hang from it and since it was a large ear it had to have fabulously large earrings to match! Anna says herself that the collection is a “girly celebration of earrings, the feminine urge to decorate and the versatility of paper (which is her favourite medium)”.
