When I had my first party here in Hong Kong a friend brought a reed diffuser as a housewarming gift. In these days where going to a party means bringing a bottle of wine I thought this was such a nice touch. I proudly displayed my new home fragrance in the kitchen and smiled at the nice gesture that was made every time I smelled the delicious fragrance that oozed out of it.
I still find myself bringing wine as a hostesses gift but today I have finally come to the conclusion that you can never go wrong with home fragrances…especially the very pretty looking ones.
The latest home fragrance on the block is Cochine, which is a luxury fragrance line from Vietnam. Cochine was launched here in Hong Kong in Mid-November and it is the baby of Hong Kong based Kate Crofton-Atkins. The line was created when she was living in Saigon and was completely inspired by all the smells and sights that make the city so unique. Not content with just experiencing them for herself she set out to create a fragrance line by partnering with an international fragrance house in New York so others could experience the same. After a year of working on perfecting the smell, which included using essential oils harvested from Vietnamese plants and trees, Cochine was born and the fragrance range includes Vietnamese Rose & Delentii, Water Hyacinth & Lime Blossom, Agarwood & Amber and White Jasmine & Gardenia.
Each of the fragrances is available in four different products for your body and home: scented candles, reed diffusers, hand wash and a hand/body lotion. The prices range from $190 (Hand Wash) to $480 (Reed Diffuser) and they can be purchased either online or at Harvey Nichols and Indigo (stores on HK Island only).
Oh, and to make things uber simple on us this year Cochine is even offering free gift wrapping on all online orders until 31 December and shipping is $50 for same day delivery or $30 for next day delivery.
