Lookbook: Malene Birger

I’ve loved Scandinavian home and furniture design (and I’m not talking Ikea, though it’s definitely a necessary evil!) for a while, and now it seems as though I’m falling for Scandinavian fashions as well… Danish designer, Malene Birger‘s (formerly of Day Birger et Mikkelsen) Summer 2010 lookbook is filled with all the things I love – soft colours, draped fabrics, soft knits and a little bit of sparkle. 

These outfits make me wish I still had a waist to pin a little glittery belt around, and the skirts with pockets just look so comfortably cool. The t-bar platforms that the outfits are paired with are just that little bit ugly enough to stop the look being too sugary sweet, and of course big statement earrings are currently my preferred way to detract attention away from my huge growing belly!My absolute favourite outfit is this one above with the little white dress and dusky rose jacket. I’ve always been looking for the perfect little white dress (so much fresher than an LBD), but this is much tougher than it sounds! A (fractionally) longer version of this white dress would be on my dream list. I just love the broderie anglaise at the hem and the big white bow around the waist.
