Fashion karma
All you fashionistas are probably already prepping for the new season as the weather finally starts to warm up… but what to do with all the pre-loved pieces that we need to clear out to make room in our closets? Join Nappahead at the Swap and Shop weekend party, where you can be part of the fashion revolution and minimise fashion waste. Bring in your unwanted clothes and accessories and in exchange, get the same amount of pre-loved goodies while you’re there (plus enjoy two free drinks, music and nibbles); after all, one girl’s trash is another’s treasure! There will be stylists on hand to ensure only the best pieces are on the rack (no dodgy threads or smelly suits here!), and any leftovers will go to the Salvation Army – so worry not, your gorgeous pieces are in great hands!
When: 8-9 March, 12-6pm
Where: Little Square, G/F, 21 Square Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
How much: $200 for members of Swap and Shop, $240 for non-members (tickets available at venue); bring along a minimum 5-15 pieces and get the same amount of items in exchange, or buy additional items at $50 each
Going dotty
A good print can bring an outfit to life and give it a pop of colour – so when we heard that THE DOT, a local fashion accessory brand, were planning a sample sale, we were ecstatic! They’re a new super-stylish one-stop shop for picture-perfect patterns designed by artists all over the world. These patterns are then printed on versatile and easy-to-match items like leather handbags, 100% silk pocket squares and scarves. Not only will you be one of the first folk to check out their latest collection, but you can also bag goodies from this usually online-only store as soon as you set your eyes on the swag! We’re totally smitten with their fruity, colourful scarves for spring, plus their chic and unique bags… these patterns are worth going dotty for!
When: 7 March, 11am-8pm; 8 March, 1-5pm
Where: 1/F, 31 Wing Wo Street, Central, Hong Kong
How much: Free entry; RSVP to [email protected]
A girl’s best friend
It’s not just diamonds and jewels that us girls treasure… and now it’s time for our favourite four-legged companions to get some fun in the sun! Head down to the pet-friendly beachside resto Café Roma, who have teamed up with the Society for Abandoned Animals for a special Dog Day Out! It’s their first-ever pet adoption and fundraising day, and it promises to be a great afternoon of live indie music performances, educational Q&As, handicraft workshops and free face-painting for the wee ones. While you’re enjoying some scrummy food, your dog can also get in on the action with treats sponsored by Royal Canin, as well as a goodie bag to boot. So head on down to meet the three friendly pups from SAA’s shelter and bring along any furry friends you might know… who knows, maybe you’ll even end up adding a new member of the family to your brood!
When: 8 March, 3-8pm
Where: Café Roma, L1, Shop 7&8, Beach Commercial Complex, Park Island, Ma Wan
How much: Free entry
