WEEKENDER: Olympics burgers, Polkadot Sip n’ Shop, Guinness Summer Social and more!

3 August, 2012

Just as the Olympics only come once every four years, maybe it’s also time for you to bounce out of the box and do something special this weekend! As ever, we’ve rounded up this week’s best…

The Hunger Games
Ever wondered what those five Olympic rings stand for? That’s right, burgers. Well… according to Main St. Deli at The Langham Hotel that is, who are bringing Olympic fever to five special burgers designed to represent the five continents, each with their own spice and flair. This might be the only chance you’ll get to try a burger topped with okra stew, sauerkraut or sautéed shrimps! Let’s not forget the “eighth ring” either… two giant chocolate chip cookies with eight scoops of Haagen-Dazs ice cream, aptly named the Cookie Monster. Yup, we’d do a hundred hurdles for that!

When: Until 12 August
Where: Main St. Deli, The Langham Hotel, 8 Peking Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
How much: $158 per burger; for reservations, call 2132 7898

Shop n’ dots
If you recently flung open your closet and thought, “’I’ve got nothing to wear!” then we’ve got the perfect solution for you. Polkadot Boutique, who specialise in unique fashion from up-and-coming labels, has exclusively starting stocking Sassy fave Vamastyle – and you’ll get to check out their new A Tropical Day Dream collection in person at their August Sip n’ Shop event. We’re loving their bright dresses and patterned rompers to give us that extra stylish summer colour pop!

When: 8 August, 5-9pm
Where: Polkadot Boutique, 2/F, 29 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong
How much: Free entry

Beer them on!
Watching sports on TV is never complete without nursing a nice cold beer. Thankfully, Guinness is hosting a Summer Social at the peak of the Olympics, featuring their signature pints of stout to drown your sorrow or raise in celebration after cheering on your team! Not a beer drinker? There’s also yummy pub grub as well as live performances from local bands 9 Maps and Kestrels & Kites to enjoy too.

When: 4 August, 3pm-6pm
Where: Kila, Upper Basement, 79 Wyndham Street, Central, Hong Kong
How much: Free entry
