WEEKENDER: National Day Fireworks, Iron Bartender, Kinky Vicious and More!

30 September, 2011
Pinch and the punch, the first of the monthโ€ฆ is tomorrow! But we thought weโ€™d get in there early with another Sassy Weekender, telling you all the hottest happenings in store for the first weekend of October!

ย Celebrate National Day with a BANG!
Whether youโ€™re bothered about National Day or not, you can be guaranteed one thing โ€“ a cracker of a firework show! The 23-minute long pyrotechnics spectacular is certain to have its fair share of wow moments. You can join the throng harbour-side ย in Wan Chai or TST but we suggest heading to Vero Lounge for the spectacular view and yummy chocolate cocktails.

Where: Vero Lounge, 1/F, Fenwick Pier, 1 Lunk King Street, Wanchai
When: 1 October, 6.30-9.30pm, Fireworks start at 9pm
How Much: $200 (incl. two drinks), $450 (incl. a la carte food service).

Team Time Out vs Team Lifestyle Asia
We already know you are on Team Sassy but since we are way too chicken to ever compete in FLYโ€™s Iron Bartender why donโ€™t you buy a few cocktails in support of your second favourite publication. Tonightย Lifestyle Asia and Time Out HK will battle it out behind the bar for two hours. The winner will receive bragging rights and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Operation Smile.

Where: FLY, G/F, 24-30 Ice House Street, Central
When: Friday 30 September, 11.30pm-1:30am
How Much? Free

Celebrate Cool Britannia
The Heritage Museum always has some interesting exhibits well worth the trip to Sha Tin and their latest offering is Made in Britain, showcasing the last 30 years of contemporary British art. There are some Turner Prize winners and nominees displayed, plus the ever-controversial work of the YBAs (Young British Artists) so why not join the debate about modern art and check it out for yourselves.

Where:ย Heritage Museum, Sha Tin
When:ย Until 9 October. Monday, Wednesday-Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday and public holidays 10am-7pm, closed Tuesdays.
How Much:ย $110, free on Wednesdays

Luxury beauty – direct to your door!
Love trying new beauty products but donโ€™t have the time to traipse around the department stores (or the energy to fend off crazed shop assistants)? Well, MyLuxBox is the ideal solution. MyLuxBox delivers a box of luxury cosmetic samples straight to your door โ€“ like receiving a fabulous present every single month!

Where: www.myluxbox.hk
When: Monthly. The October box is sold out but we hear that more subscriptions might be available soon.
How Much: $80 for one month, $800 for annual membership

Snap it!
The idea of an exhibition composed of ย only iPhone photographs might sound gimmicky, but so far weโ€™re heard great things about Liam Fitzpatrickโ€™s Kinky Vicious show โ€“ the first of its kind in Hong Kong. Taken and edited entirely on the cityโ€™s favourite gadget, the HK panoramas and sweeping harbour-side shots are far more stunning than anything weโ€™ve ever managed with our trusty iPhones!

Where: Culture Club, 15 Elgin Street, SoHo
When: Until 15 October. Monday-Thursday 2.30-10pm, Friday-Saturday 2.30-11pm
How Much:ย Free
