WEEKENDER: Konzepp’s Booze Cake Bake Sale, Awon Golding Millinery DIY workshop, plus a fab Sassy discount and much more

It’s time to clear out your apartment to make space for new spring purchases! Whether you’re looking for some awesome art for your walls, tasty treats to stock up your kitchen, or the next big thing to spice up any outfit, we’ve got it all here in this week’s Weekender!


Let them eat cake
If cakes with a cheeky twist are your thing, then you’ll be licking your lips just reading this! Head over to Konzepp this weekend for the Booze Cake Bake Sale – come hungry and stock up on loads of scrumptious boozy home-baked treats (did someone say Bailey’s cupcakes?!), plus a few “virgin” goodies for any of you who are on the wagon. All proceeds will go towards Enrich HK, a training organisation empowering migrant women in Hong Kong, so there’s never been a better time to have your cake and eat it!

Get a head start
Fancy a little piece of art to spice up any outfit? Then sign up for a workshop with Awon Golding Millinery to DIY your own gorgeous headgear! Awon will show you how to make an amazing piece of vintage-inspired headwear that’s to die for – with all the equipment and materials provided too. So grab a few friends and come make some accessories that will be sure to turn heads at your next big party, wedding or special occasion!

Well, if you’re in need of some fresh new items to add to your spring wardrobe, pop over to Discovery Bay this weekend for fashion boutique LoveIt’s pop-up store! You can shop LoveIt’s fresh and unique collection at discounted prices (everything is $1000 or under!) – we especially love their perfect party dresses, comfy denim and stylish knitwear. The pop-up store is only going to be around for the rest of this month, so catch that DB ferry and get some retail therapy!

So fresh, so green!
It’s the Chinese Lantern Festival (aka Chinese Valentine’s Day) this weekend – so come join in the festivities at the Cyberport Weekend Market where you can make cute lanterns with your loved one (out of recycled lai see packets!). You can also browse round the market booths, where you’ll find plenty of handmade goodies from local designers, a creative up-cycling workshop, and fresh organic fruit and veg perfect for a homemade weekend meal. What’s more, you’ll also get a special free gift if you wear something related to the five traditional Chinese elements and a complimentary bowl of yummy glutinous rice balls if you can solve all the lantern riddles around the market!

Go gallery hopping!
The Asia Hotel Art Fair is back in town, showcasing some of Asia’s best galleries with over 3,000 works of art by established and emerging contemporary artists on display! The fair will be held over three floors of the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, transforming their luxurious rooms into intimate gallery spaces right in the middle of Central with artwork by the likes of Damien Hirst, Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama. Be sure to check out the timetable of talks, tours and lectures by industry experts – there’s no better event for you to dive into the art world than this one. Who knows, you might just find the perfect piece that your bedroom wall has been looking for!
