WEEKENDER: Happy Valley Races Oktoberfest, wine and cheese evening, yoga and art night & more

Consider this weekend one for indulgence and pampering yourself inside and out. Kick back with some wine, cheese and beers, or get your hands on some truffles… but not before you get those digits polished and your downward dog perfected! We’ve got it all lined up in our Weekender…

The perfect pair
Wine and cheese… the age-old Romeo and Juliet food! So, what could be more exciting than wine tasting? A wine and cheese tasting, of course – in the super-swish surroundings of the cool new Hotel Indigo! There’ll be a cheese master and a Rothschild wine expert on hand to guide you through some unique cheese and wine pairings and introduce the specific vineyards and Rothschild farm that all the goods come from – and we’ve been promised a generous tasting of each and every wine and cheese available. So raise your glass, and turn your Friday night into an evening of French indulgence!

Body, mind and soul
Yoga is good for the body, art is good for the mind, and music is great for the soul – so when it all comes together, you know it’ll be a night that gives you the total feel good factor, top to toe! Come join our former That Girl Claudia Whitney for a one-night only Creative Yoga Flow & Art show, including a vinyasa flow yoga class (suitable for all levels!) in an art gallery, while a DJ spins some amazing tunes, with drinks, canapés and a lucky draw to follow. To top off all this goodness, all money raised from the event will go towards Hagar International, who help survivors of extreme abuse, exploitation and human trafficking. What are you waiting for? Time to put on some yoga pants and do some good!

What? How is it nearly the end of October already?! But fear not – there’s still one more Happy Valley Oktoberfest happening, so get in on one of the most amazing party nights in Hong Kong! Complete with all the ingredients needed for an unforgettable night, there will be great live performances, prizes for you to take home, exciting horse races and of course, some all-important, ice-cold German beer and snacks for you to enjoy too. Try your hand at the Perfect Draught Pouring game, or put your name in the hat for the Speed Drinking contest if you dare… To guarantee an absolutely jumping night, make sure you bring all your friends and march on in. Don’t fear the hump day, embrace it and party on!

Everyday I’m truffling…
Food lovers hold on to your hats – it’s finally truffle season! To celebrate the truffle in all its glory, one of Hong Kong’s swankiest restaurants, Aqua, has launched a special five-course truffle-inspired menu, where all the dishes come doused with three grams of the world’s finest white truffles from Italy (YUM!). If you don’t fancy a whole truffle-a-thon, try out one of their new truffle-inspired cocktails while taking in the fabulous Aqua Spirit view of the Hong Kong skyline. Those with a sweet tooth should sip on the Truffle & Chocolate Martini (Godiva chocolate liquor, Baileys and raspberry vodka – yes please!) whilst the more daring might want to try the menacingly strong Dirty Truffle Martini instead (not for the faint hearted!). You’ll also get a scrummy complimentary canapé when you order these cocktails, so it’s time to get truffling!!
