9 May, 2014

We did our best not to jinx the weather, and we failed miserably. But we bring you news of what’s going on around town so you can wile away your weather woes. There’s plenty to choose from too: craft beer, a food fest and fashion galore. Oh, and how could we forget some social networking that doesn’t take place on your smartphone?

bricklane2 2A pub night you’ll never forget!
Yes, we enjoy a glass of cava or a cosmo on a sophisticated night out with the girls, but who says we can’t enjoy an icy cold one from time to time? Discover your new favourite beer (Corona Light just won’t cut it anymore) at the Brick Lane Craft Beer Festival. You’ll be able to try out some new pale ales, rich Stouts, malty Ambers and more. The resto is known for its traditional British pub grub too, including fish and chips, and bangers and mash…. Yum! Check out our review here.

We hear tickets to the event are all sold out (boo hoo!), but we’re giving five lucky winners a chance to win a pair of tickets to Brick Lane’s Craft Beer festival!

This giveaway has now closed. Please stay tuned for future giveaways!

Where: Brick Lane, Shop 404, CITIC Tower, 1 Tim Mei Avenue, Admiralty, Hong Kong

harbour foodFare for a fair…
We love a good food market at Sassy HQ, and Harbour Artisanal is no exception! After the success of its first festival in February, the independent food fair is back for round two. And this time it’s bigger and better as it’s been extended to two days! Boutique food and beverage vendors (including some of Sassy’s favourites – Honi Honi, The Socialhouse and microbrewery Young Master Ales) will be there, providing delicious nibbles and drinks during some (hopefully) balmy weather. Forks at the ready!

When
: 10-11 May, 12-7pm
Where: Fire Dragon Path, Tai Hang, Hong Kong
How much: Free

fashion collective1Fashion designers unite
Hong Kong is known for several things – food, fun and fashion. Contemporary designers from Hong Kong and the region are gathering at The Space for a unique shopping event, dubbed The Fashion Collective. And whether you’re fashion-curious or fashion-savvy, the designers will be on hand if you’re interested in having a chat with them. Keep an eye out for House of V, Taara and Chicameo among others. See you there!

When: 9-10 May, 11am-8pm
Where: The Space, 210 Hollywood Road, Hong Kong
How much: Free entry

social networkingSocial networking
Social networking used to be about maintaining connections with university friends overseas, tweeting that one celebrity in hopes of a tweet back and attempting to get as many likes on Instagram as possible. But the lines between personal and professional social networking are blurred these days, so we’ve partnered with General Assembly for a social mixer on Unleashing Social Media. Meet and mingle with professionals and entrepreneurs over wine and snacks, and you’re sure to pick up some handy tips on social media here. Oh, and how could we forget, the wine at the event is sponsored by Signature French Wines.

When: 12 May, 6.30-8.30pm
Where: GA Hong Kong @ Garage, 9/F, 33 Des Voeux Road, Central, Hong Kong
How much: Free! RSVP online here for a $50 coupon off your next General Assembly class or workshop.

unnamedFor the love of art
We’ve gone Art Basel mad this month, and so has The Peninsula. In conjunction with international art gallery White Cube, Tracey Emin has created a public art project that will adorn the façade of the iconic hotel’s building. The groundbreaking installation, My Heart is with You Always, will temporarily change the face of one of the things we love most about HK: its beautiful skyline. Tune in each night to see this artistic animation by one of the best and most challenging artists of our time.

When: 8-18 May, 7am-12 midnight
Where: The Peninsula, Hong Kong, Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong
How much: Free

Get cooking!
We’ve tried our hand in the kitchen, but we really can’t claim to be Michelin-starred chefs. While we love to dine out (as does everyone in HK!), eating in is the new thing. We’ve got a marvellous offer from Gourmet Depot HK, a food and wine warehouse for connoisseurs.

There’s 20% off a duo of Plantin’s ‘Black Truffle Paste’ and ‘White Truffle with Extra Virgin Olive Oil’ for just $320 when you present a Sassy coupon code. Take advantage of the deal now by clicking here. It’s time to get cooking, girls!
