Uterque in IFC – Zara’s little sister, the new shop on the block

3 September, 2012

If you have strolled through IFC recently you have most likely spotted the new kid on the block, Uterqüe… and in case you haven’t had the chance to pop your head in yet, we’ve got the scoop!

Uterqüe is part of the well-loved and even more well-worn Zara/Massimo Dutti brainchild, Inditex. Uterqüe is the baby of the bunch just launching in 2008 (and this is their first store in the whole of Asia – lucky us!) but don’t judge this label solely on the fact that they are new. They got their fashionable legs under them very quickly and are producing some stunning clothes and accessories already!

Skins and furs were all over the runways this season and you can easily follow this trend here. The fleecy coat above will definitely have me making another trip back for a try-on session! How beautiful would it be tossed over the shoulders one of the stylishly simple shift dresses also available at Uterqüe? Be sure to also notice the luxe leather jackets and the supple navy suede coat on offer!

Uterqüe started off solely selling accessories before branching out to clothes too, so it’s no surprise that they excel in stunning handbags, über-chic shoes and chunky jewellery! The versatile and high quality leather bags are certain to become wardrobe staples whilst I kept rushing from one side of the store to the other as a pair of blue croc print boots would catch my eye… then a snakeskin loafer would beckon me in another direction! There are just too many beautiful options!

My favourite though? I am dying for a pair of the nude heeled loafers with the metal tipped fringe detail! I can see these paired perfectly with cigarette pants and a boxy jacket.

Uterqüe goes overboard in the best possible way with their gigantic statement jewellery – just one necklace in your wardrobe will change your outlook on accessorizing! These baubles aren’t for the faint of heart or those that want to blend in… but they can add just the right amount of pizzazz to an outfit. Check out our Sassy Mama Instant Goddess, Katie, showing us how easily these colossal creations can be worn, pairing a mammoth chain with a girly sundress for an eclectic chic look!

What do I see ending up in my jewellery box (if it will fit)? The twisty rope and stone number, which begs to be layered over a camel turtleneck dress for fall! Yes please!

The prices are definitely higher than Zara but the materials, design and craftsmanship of Uterqüe’s wares seem great quality, whilst the items themselves are made in strictly limited quantities (no more bumping into everyone wearing that same Zara skirt thank you!).

So if you are looking for something large and in charge to spice up your fall wardrobe, then run on over to Uterqüe and scoop up all the chunky bits and pieces that will make your outfit fab! This shop is sure to be a treasured HK fave in no time. Welcome to Hong Kong, Uterqüe! We are glad you’re here!
