Top 5… Tasty Thai Restaurants

8 June, 2010
Whether itโ€™s tom yam kung or Thai green curry that tickles your fancy, hereโ€™s our top 5 recommendations for tasty Thai food in Hong Kong.

Thai Curry House
38 Bonham Strand, Sheung Wan – 2850 6380

Often jam packed at lunch, so get there early for a table or be prepared to wait. We love the huge portion of stir-fried morning glory which makes you feel virtuous after indulging in a creamy, and not too spicy, Thai curry.ย  Very cheap and cheerful.

Ayuthaiya
35 Hollywood Road, Central – 3105 5055

This upmarket Thai joint is sleek and quite sexy, and absolutely perfect for people watching along busy Hollywood Road. Portions are a little small for one person but good for sharing and absolutely delicious โ€“ and that old staple, pad Thai, is truly exceptional.

Coco Thai
Deep Water Bay Beach โ€“ 2812 1826

Its lovely alfresco location makes it a winnerโ€ฆand the food is yum too! In the daytime, roll off the beach for a cocktail and some snacks while in the evening, come for a romantic meal with that special someone.

Soho Spice
47 Elgin Street, Soho – 2521 1600

The Soho stalwart serves up fantastic curry dumplings alongside a range of Vietnamese and Thai favourites. Though quite small, the atmosphere is buzzy. A good place to come before (or after!) a few drinks in Soho.

Chili Club
1/F, 88 Lockhart Road, Wanchai – 2527 2872

One of the restaurants we keep going back to, if only for the โ€œPla Ma-Now Pa Saโ€, or steamed whole fish which is cooked in a sour and spicy soup flavoured with lime, chilli and garlic.
