Shopwalk Spotlight: Jamie Diane, Marijoli & Raaga Chic

28 June, 2011

We’ve lined up such a great selection of independent jewellery designers to take part in SoHo Shop Walk – it’s hard to choose a favourite! The three below all have a ton of style, and are all created by three very different Sassy girls from the US, Switzerland and India. Is your style more Jamie Diane (delicate and feminine), Marijoli (cool and contemporary) or Raaga Chic (fun and bold)?

Jamie Diane

Jamie Diane custom jewelry is handmade with quality materials and attention to detail. Each piece is representative of Jamie Diane’s own personal style and influenced by the designer’s love of vintage jewelry. The collections are a brilliant combination of delicate pieces that are unique, feminine and extremely versatile.

What is your favourite piece for summer and why?
On a recent trip to Nepal, I feel in love with these intricate Tibetan pendants.  My designs were completely inspired by the coral and turquoise stones found in the pendants and based my entire collection around those colors.  The Tibetan Pendant Necklaces are my favorite pieces.  I love layering them over tanks and sundresses.

What is your favourite trend for summer?
Colourful statement pieces using warm color palettes and a mixture of unique stones. These pieces remind me of the beach and casual summer days.  The colors and stones also tie back to my current collection. The last few seasons have been like jewelry on steroids. The Big idea that caught our eye was the use of giant Cabochon-style stones, à la Proenza Schouler and Bottega Veneta. Organic and elegant.

Marijoli

Created by designer Marielle Byworth, a tremendous traveler, she turned the inspiration of her travels into rings and bracelets « manchettes », pendants and earrings, all as Baroque and imaginative as contemporary. Her friends’ enthusiastic response encouraged her to pursue her jewellery design on a larger scale, helped in this by her husband’s family, jewelers for 5 generations.

What is your favourite trend for summer?
This summer I will go wild! Western style, like if you ride off into the sunset with sexy fringe, mini suede skirt and Marijoli cuff on your wrist.

What is your favourite piece for summer and why?
This Pendant is inspired by the Chakra Mūlādhāra with 4 red petals. Made of gold 18k and rubies. It will help you to maintain your sexiness during this summer.

What would you pair it with?
Just a simple open white blouse short blue denim shorts.

Raaga Chic

My love of jewellery began as a child. It was a combination of the many hours spent in my parents workshop sorting through necklaces and pendants and our family holidays to India. I love sifting through the beautiful silver works by local craftsmen looking for unique and beautiful pieces to acquire. Raaga Chic fuses chic contemporary with Indo-Western style.

What is your favorite trend for summer?
My favorite trend for the summer, is the mixed use of patterns, metals and bold bright colours.

What is your favorite piece for summer and why?
I have two favorites.  I’m mad for flowers and oversized crystals. I saw that there wasn’t anything different being made for the ears.  Everything was long and dangly but nothing was different. So I decided to create earrings that were statement making, fun, bold and OVERSIZED.

What would you pair them with?
Both can be paired with anything. With work wear or maxis. Day or night.

Don’t forget you can buy tickets to Shopwalk via the Shopwalk website!
