Sassy Recommends: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine

I like to think of myself as a pacifist, although from time to time a girl needs to channel her inner b*tch, let her out and make a stand. In the words of the prophet known as Beyoncé, sometimes we need to remind society that girl, we run the world.

On days like these, I crack open my Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Rebelle. I don’t know what attracted me to this gloss/lipstick hybrid in the first place. It could have been Vanessa Paradis and the idea that wearing Coco Shine would transport me to a sunny French garden. More likely, it was the name. Who doesn’t fancy saying, “I’m wearing Rebelle”?

Aside from the chic packaging, Rebelle is the perfect red for day. It has just the right amount of coral and, I suspect, would suit most complexions. I wore it to the office one day… If you’ve been following my posts you’ll know I don’t normally make an effort until the weekends, which may be why it caused a wee bit of a sensation. There is no hiding behind your cubicle, your monitor or the in-tray when you’ve got this colour on your lips.

It goes on sheer like an oomphed-up version of tinted lip balm but can be built up with layering. As with most moisturizing products, the staying power isn’t great but I remedied that with a matching lipliner underneath.

This lippie makes me want to stand up for my rights – I demand red, I demand respect for my individuality. Do you have a go-to red (for day)? Let me know what you think.
