Laduree opens in Hong Kong!

6 December, 2012

Yes… they’re here!

Ladurée has finally opened its doors in Habour City in Tsim Sha Tsui – and we’ve got the full scoop!

Alongside their incredible world-famous macarons, the HK store will also be selling chocolates, confectionary, teas, scented candles and home fragrances – all in that trademark beautiful Ladurée packaging. No-brainer birthday, Christmas and ‘just because’ presents, here we come!

The business started way back in 1862 as a humble bakery, before evolving into the Parisian pastry shop and tearoom we all know and love. The HK store is an experience in itself that lives up to Ladurée’s heritage, decked out in their trademark pastel colours and signature neo-classical style decoration, with counters and cabinets piled high with their goodies.

Meanwhile, it’s Pierre Desfontaines (second cousin of Louis Ladurée, the original founder) we should thank for coming up with the idea of taking two macaron shells and sandwiching some gooey ganache filling in-between! We can’t wait to get our mitts on their boxes of macarons in-store, with flavours including chocolate, coffee, liquorice, pistachio, rose petal and (drool) salted caramel, plus plenty more special new flavours every season. Currently, there’s a mouth-watering ‘Incroyable’ collection blending hazelnut and marshmallow to celebrate Ladurée’s 150th Anniversary – we wish someone would custom blend a macaron for all our anniversaries! There’s also a full range of different types of chocolates, fragrant teas and scrummy jams (all made from fruit from Europe) too.

The queues are already crazy (it might be a few weeks until we brave them, to be honest!) but Laduree has definitely made its mark in Hong Kong and just feels that little bit more special than the other run-of-the-mill pastry shops here. Now, who’s up for that macaron?!
