I Heart Zara

13 April, 2011

I often write about designer items that I am lemming over so on a recent trip to Zara, I was gobsmacked by all the gorgeous colour blocking that was going on with their latest SS 11 range and even more excited by the unbelievably affordable price tags !

Colour blocking is such a big fashion concept right now but it is also something that many people will be afraid of. This is mainly because you do need to be confident with your styling and colour mixing to be able to pull it off. If you are like me and generally feel safe in 4 shades only or “monochroming” – black, white, grey and navy blue, bright colours can be a bit daunting.

So what struck me the most about Zara’s SS range is that whilst there is an abundance of jewelled tones from emerald greens to electric blues, it is all mixed and accented with neutral shades of creams and whites to keep it classic and fresh. This makes me feel very comfortable and encouraged to start getting bright !

I have written before about mixing your stripes and colours together and Zara has been able to capture this extremely well by keeping the cuts and designs clean and simple. However being a sucker for small detailing, I did notice and instantly fell in love with the nips, tucks and twists that could be found throughout the range. The mod necklines of the shirts, slit pockets in the A line mini’s but most of all, the gorgeous lengths that are available throughout the range so that you can hide whichever body part you want without looking dowdy.
