Hong Kong goodbyes

3 December, 2010

We typically say that one of the reasons we started Sassy was because we wanted to make more friends. We knew, being the transient place that Hong Kong is, that people would eventually start moving away and the circle of friends that we started with could ultimately dwindle down to a very teeny tiny group. We also knew that if we didn’t make an effort to continue to make new friends that Hong Kong could potentially feel like a very lonely place.

Some of us know the length of time we will be in Hong Kong while others have no Hong Kong expiration date but the harsh reality is that at some point while living here we will have to say goodbye to some very close girlfriends. Being in HK a little more then 2 1/2 years we have already experienced a number of goodbyes and each one is a reminder of how precious each one of our Hong Kong friendships is. Living so far away from our family and being expats in a similar situation helps friendships grow in fast forward pace but unfortunately that also means it makes saying goodbye to friends a very sad thing to do.

While we have had plenty of practice in farewells the past few years it still has not prepared us for our latest goodbye. After 3 years in HK, it is now time for Natalie to move back to the U.S.. While she has some very exciting news (more on that later!) that makes this move a happy one it is still very hard to believe that our Sassy team of 3 is now down to 2. We have had so many great memories starting Sassy together last year but what we will honestly miss most is the strong bond and friendship we have developed over the years. It really makes us realize that friendships that are created here in Hong Kong are really worth having even though it is hard to see them go.

Natalie, We will miss you but we are so very excited for what is in store for you. Please make sure you have a Sassy pink bedroom for us to stay in when we come visit you in Miami!

More Sassy Baby News! In October we welcomed Elodie, the first Sassy baby to our group and in April or May we will be welcoming two more little ones! Yes, Natalie is expecting and she is having TWINS! We are sure there will be plenty of Skype playdates in the future with Little Miss Elodie and the Firestone twins!
