Discovering the Bing Sutt Starbucks

19 October, 2010

Guest Blogger Kylene discovers the Bing Sutt Starbucks on Duddell Street which just so happens to be one of our favourites too. If you haven’t been to it yet you should definitely check it out as it is very rare to find a unique Starbucks! We also find it is a great place to have meetings as it is tucked away from the massive crowds.

I’m a huge fan of Starbucks, so when I heard of a bing sutt version I knew I had to go. It’s tucked in a relatively quiet corner of Central and the concept and design is so distinctly Hong Kong!

This Starbucks store is built to resemble the old coffeehouses of Hong Kong back in the 1950’s. There are old-fashioned pieces of paper and tags hanging on the walls with menu items written on them, coffeehouse desert counters, tons of memorabilia on the fake windows and even bird cages hanging on the ceiling!

The drinks and menu items are similar to any other Starbucks with additional Hong Kong style items such as almond soy milk and pineapple and cocktail buns.

Who would have thought to find culture and history in a Starbucks? Only in Hong Kong I think and I love it!
