We’ve all heard the rumours, waited with bated breath and bid a huge fashionista sigh of relief as Giordano’s never-ending ‘Good Bye’ sale finally drew to a close… yes, Forever 21 is definitely absolutely 100% coming to Hong Kong and they’ve even put up the hoardings to prove it!
For those that have been too enthralled in the recent Gap/Jack Wills/Hollister openings to notice, Forever 21 is landing in the heart of crazy-busy Causeway Bay – taking over the whole of the six-floor Capitol Centre on Jardine’s Crescent (opposite CWB MTR Exit F), which was previously home to a Giordano flagship and a too-big-for-its-own-good Watsons!
And just in case you weren’t already acquainted with the Korean-owned American store, trust us – Hong Kong was totally missing out! Forever 21 is fast fashion at its finest, distilling all the hottest trends from catwalk to high street without drawing breath… and without breaking the bank either! It should provide H&M with some much-needed competition here in HK, delivering trends with a twist at wallet-friendly prices!
Judging from the size of the store, plus the sheer amount of good stuff on their website (and reports from our fashion-obsessed friends Stateside!), we could probably spend days browsing inside! They’ll be selling women’s, men’s and girl’s-wear, including shoes, underwear and accessories, with fresh items being brought in on a DAILY basis! Our wardrobes are having palpitations just thinking about it!
Forever 21 recently held a 7-minute hologram fashion show in Macau to celebrate the forthcoming HK flagship opening, which featured models walking down a cosmic runway, disappearing into starbursts and raindrops and walking up and down invisible staircases!
Meanwhile, now that we’re absolutely sure Forever 21 is opening here, we’re sure the question on every Sassy reader’s lips is ‘When does it open?!’ We’d been hearing rumours of Summer 2012… but we can bring you the official news that it will be MUCH sooner! You can expect Forever 21 to open its doors on 18 January 2012 – we’ve marked our calendars already! Yippee!

Well that’s all very well but these brands have to realize that there are folks of all sizes and shapes that reside in Hong Kong. Was horrified to find that Gap in Hong Kong only carries jeans in tiny sizes really surprising when the Singapore Gap carries the entire range.

However, we have heard rumours that this is a ‘soft opening’ – not really sure what this means, but I guess we’ll find out next week!
