APIVITA Golden Honey Journey – Greek retreat at The Oriental Spa, Landmark Mandarin Oriental

6 August, 2012

Whilst the rest of Team Sassy have been jetting off to exotic locations, the nearest I have come to a summer holiday was a trip to HK Disneyland in the T8 (…don’t ask!). Luckily, The Oriental Spa at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental offered to whisk me away on a relaxing Greek retreat with their new APIVITA Golden Honey Journey treatment – how could I refuse?!

In case you have never been to The Landmark MO’s spa, a) read Jaime’s more detailed review here and b) GO! Although the hotel is more boutique sized, the spa itself is a huge hidden gem, with dozens of amazing complimentary heat and water facilities – including a vitality pool with streaming jets of water, an amethyst crystal steam room, experience showers and much more. I only wish I had left myself more time to explore!

You may know APIVITA from their skincare line available at beauty counters, which specialises in Mediterranean ingredients and ancient Hippocratic philosophy – and The Oriental Spa has become the first and only place in Asia to up the luxe even more by offering APIVITA spa treatments too.

Their Golden Honey Journey includes a scrub, massage and facial, and basically sounds like something out of Winnie The Pooh’s wildest dreams! The Indulging Honey Scrub smelt so scrummy, I had to resist the urge to lick myself in the shower afterwards!

Next was the APIVITA Signature Body Treatment where a nourishing honey blend was applied all-over and left to do its work, whilst my therapist gave me an amazing tension-releasing scalp massage, then a full body one. I quickly drifted away to dreams of Greek beaches, Mediterranean sunshine and honey bees.

A royal Queen Bee Face Treatment completed my Greek journey. This is more of a relaxing facial as opposed to a problem-solving one (no extraction or harsh-feeling products), so deep moisturising and soothing is the order of the day and my skin felt all the better for it. You can then delay your re-entry to the real world even further with a delicious cup of tea (…or three) made with APIVITA’s home grown Greek honey on the loungers in the Zen Relaxation Room.

If you are in need of a heavy dose of rest and relaxation, the Golden Honey journey is exactly what the doctor ordered (Hippocrates himself, in fact!) and the luxurious facilities and warm welcoming staff create a truly lovely experience. Nevertheless, I almost wish that The Oriental Spa had taken the retreat theme even further by adding something like a scrumptious yoghurt honey smoothie to the mix too!

Although the treatment isn’t cheap, I thoroughly recommend it as a mini treat to yourself (it’s definitely cheaper than a holiday to Greece!) or even better, something for someone else to treat you to instead! Just make sure you give yourself enough time to enjoy all the facilities… and start dropping some hints now!

The APIVITA Golden Honey Journey costs $2100 on weekdays and $2280 on weekends, and lasts for 2 hours 30 minutes.
