Here at Sassy we are all for supporting homegrown local designers – and Aly & Rachelle is another new Hong Kong brand filled with cute and stylish dresses that we simply adore!

You would think that Aly & Rachelle are probably the names of the designers right? Nope! In fact, they are fictional twin sisters that represent the two style flipsides showcased in the brand’s designs, all from the brain of creative director, Christine Lam, who studied fashion at Central Saint Martins before returning to Hong Kong.

Aly is the older twin, with a darker personality represented in the edgy and sexier looks from the collection. In the Spring/Summer 2013 range, abstract black and white prints, geometric and asymmetric cuts and the use of silk and satin bring out the perfect combination of sophistication and style.

Rachelle on the other hand has a touch of purity and femininity that is represented by creamy pastel colours and girly silhouettes. Christine has also made use of floral prints, satin, woven fabric and soft cotton to give that feel of dreamy innocence. Both sides are illustrated perfectly by the Zoe dress (shown above), which comes in two different designs with diagonal cut panels – a cool monochrome abstract print for Aly, and a pretty pastel floral for Rachelle. We LOVE!

As for Sassy’s top picks? Well, mint is the colour this summer, so I’m definitely eyeing the cropped Evelyn jacket (above centre). The simple Roz dress (above left) would be my second fave – pair it with some nude wedges and you’ll be looking like a Greek goddess in no time. For an edgier look, I recommend the Alexis dress with its sheer laser-cut panels and studs (above right)… together with your favourite stilettos, of course! Many of Aly & Rachelle’s dresses would be perfect for that day-to-night transition, going from your office wardrobe to a night out, or a breezy weekend brunch to a fancy dinner.

Most items are priced between $1400-2000 and you can do all the shopping from the comfort of your home via their online store. Meanwhile be on the lookout for Aly & Rachelle pop-up shops and stalls at Hong Kong fairs and bazaars throughout the year; fingers crossed they’ll soon be available all year-round at one of the city’s independent boutiques too.

So if you’re in need of some quality dresses with nice fabrics and cute details, go and check these girls out for yourself!
